I need help with out LCD Screen. Thank you!?

We have an LCD screen and the left side of the screen gets really dark. It usually starts after we've been watching for a bit. Normally the top corner goes first then the rest of the left side follows. If the top portion of the TV itself (not the screen) is squeezed, the picture sometimes gets better. My brother taps the side of the TV and the picture usually returns. Any actual advice besides taking it to a shop or using the warranty (since the warranty expired already). I do have several resistors, inductors, wires, and other accessories (including solder & a soldering iron. I don't mind taking it apart and going to town on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
