Do you know anything about electric motors?

My motor still works, Don't believe it's the on/off switch. there ore 2 more pieces in the housing on is where all the wires connect, if you can tell me what it's called. and I believe the other is called a Ceramic Encased Cement Resistor, but am not sure. The # on it is 50w4rj, if that's helps. What I'm trying to figure out is the amp or ohm part of it to know what I can buy for a replacement. any tips, links, or any other info on where I can learn about this stuff would be much appreciated.
