Things to be sure of when watching the farm?

Is there a backup generator? Here, if the electric power goes out, the water pump doesn't work. That means no running water and toilets don't flush. It also means there is no heat for the water and the furnace doesn't run, and when it gets dark, there are no lights. I have a backup generator that keeps things running in the house and at the barn if we lose power. I'd ask about that and be sure you know what to do if there is a power outage. My generator comes on automatically, but some have to be started manually. Just be sure you know what to do.
