Can I change the LED on my tv remote?

The remote goes to a tv from like 2008, it's not a flatscreen, just a normal older tv. The remote is also a normal remote, no guide or anything. Ive opened up the remote and the motherboard or whatever it is, is brown, has a few resistors and has an LED on the top of it, The led doesn't light up when pressed but it works, I just wanted to know if I could switch it out with a green 3v led
